LOCATION: Lazarides Rathbone, 11 Rathbone Place, London W1T 1HR

Lazarides launches · FLESH · BLOOD · SUBSTANCE · the first London exhibition by Mexican artist Golgo opening this October at Lazarides Rathbone.

Through a new body of work the artist will introduce us to his personal interpretation of life and death. Golgo will be presenting a series of canvases focused on the combination of anatomy and symbolism.

Inspired by Mexican folklore, pop culture and graffiti, Glogo often portrays images of saints, wrestlers and comic book characters. This eclectic assortment of cultural icons is inspired by Golgo's interest centered around the human body, its functioning and its decay.

In the early 90s Golgo funded Da-Flow, a collective of street artists and luchadores (fighters practicing the uniquely Mexican wrestling style lucha libre) aiming to integrate their vibrant designs into the mainstream culture.

Golgo currently works at his own Black Blood Studio, initially founded in Mexico City, and now based in Los Angeles.
